Brown Partington moved out to the West coast from Indianapolis in 2001 to pursue a career in theatre and film acting. Settling in San Diego, Brown attended Mira Costa College, majoring in acting. After appearing as an actor in a couple of independent theatre productions with the Independant Players, Brown decided that he preferred working behind the scenes to being an actor, so he changed his course of studies to film directing. During his college years, Brown tech edited several Mac-based computer books and did sound design for multiple stage plays. He also directed a comedic one-act stage play, which was highly acclaimed. After graduating with an associates’ degree from MiraCosta College, Brown moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue his bachelors’ degree in film production. When he was unable to get the classes he wanted, Brown left school to travel around Europe with his younger brother for a month. Brown began freelancing as a film editor after his return from overseas. In the past couple of years, Brown has edited several short films. One of his first shorts, Deception, was created and edited in 24 hours for the first annual Los Angeles 24-hour film festival. Deception was one of 30 films out of 65 to be screened at the competition. More recently, Brown edited and co-produced a short HD film titled He Lives, which was an official selection for The Other Venice Film Festival, The Hollywood HD festival, and The Staten Island film festival. It went on to receive best drama at the Beverly Hills short film festival. This summer, Brown will be designing sound once again for the Independant Players for their Shakespeare in the Park tour. He will also be attending California State University Northridge in the fall to obtain a degree in Electronic Media Management. With this degree, he plans to open a production company, Kessler Films, with his brother, Griff Partington, who graduated in 2007 with a degree in Communications. They hope to create and produce movies that you’ll be able to see at a theatre near you.
